Why it is on a Solana calendar

DevFest is the yearly conference of the Google Developer Groups, and nothing on its published programme mentions a blockchain. It earns its place here twice over. The date: Saturday 21 November is the middle day of DigiTec, so anyone in Yerevan for the Armenian tech year's main event can make a second conference of the same weekend. And the room: the invitation asks for developers, engineers, students and researchers — very nearly the crowd the Solana Armenia meetup drew 108 of in July, at three times the size.

The call for speakers is the opening

Proposals go in on Sessionize until 23:59 Yerevan time on 8 November: technical talks of 20 minutes, workshops of up to 60. Among the topics the organisers list are distributed systems, security, backend engineering, developer tooling and software architecture, and they ask that a talk connect to Google's technologies or to the wider open-source ecosystem. Product pitches, sales talks and recruiting presentations are refused outright.

Read plainly, that is a door for engineering and closed to promotion. A talk on running Rust in an open-source client under load, or on auditing programs that hold other people's money, sits inside the brief; a project's roadmap does not.

What is confirmed

21 November 2026, 09:30 to 18:00, at the Akian College of Science and Engineering of the American University of Armenia, 40 Marshal Baghramyan Avenue. It is organised by GDG Yerevan with the college, and InTech.am is listed as a partner. Around 20 speakers across two parallel tracks, and the call for speakers expects 300 to 350 attendees. Attendance is free; registration is on the GDG page.

What is not confirmed yet

The speakers, the sessions and the agenda — the organisers say all three will be announced. There is no Web3 track on paper, and nothing here promises one.

Twenty minutes in front of three hundred general developers is an audience that has mostly never written a Solana program — the one a Solana meetup, however good, does not reach. The price of the slot is that the talk has to be about the engineering rather than the chain — which is usually the better talk anyway.
