ETHGlobal runs Ethereum hackathons around the world, and the Mumbai one runs from 5 to 7 November 2026 at the Jio World Convention Centre, during Devcon week. ETHGlobal puts it at 800+ attendees, 29+ workshops and $175,000 in prizes.
Why it is on a Solana calendar
Solana Summit India is in the same city on 2 November. A builder who ships on both chains can spend the Monday on Solana and the end of the week at the hackathon without a second flight.
The rule that changed
For the first time, a project does not have to start from an empty repository. Mumbai allows three ways in: build from scratch as before, extend an open-source repository you already maintain, or build a new feature on an existing product and ship it as open source. Teams are still one to five people.
Getting in
Attendance is by application, and the deadline is 23 October. The event is free, food included, but each hacker stakes a small amount of crypto to confirm a place, returned in full on submitting a project, even a partial one. Everyone applies and stakes individually, team or not, and travel and accommodation are your own.
The days around it
Devcon 8 runs from 3 to 6 November in the same building, and Pragma Mumbai, ETHGlobal's conference, is on 6 November.
Apply before 23 October even without a team: applications are individual, and ETHGlobal holds an online team-forming session on 30 October. The new rule favours anyone with a half-finished open-source project, as long as the new feature is built during the weekend.
